Considerations on the Substance of the Sun by Augustus Brevoort Woodward - 1801
Augustus Woodward was the first chief justice of the Michigan Territory, appointed by Thomas Jefferson. He arrived in 1805, one month after Detroit was leveled by fire, and redesigned the city street layout. The city’s main thoroughfare, Woodward Avenue, is named in his honor.
