Aristotelis Stagiritae Physicorum Libri VIII by Aristotle - 1585

Here is a late 16th century volume that contains a number of Aristotle's works, published by Nicolaus Moretus in Venice in 1585, which includes his works on physics (Physicorum), astronomy (De Coelo) and meteorology (Meteorologicorum). Adding Aristotle's works on physics and astronomy to my library has been a goal of mine for some time now. The list of works in this volume is as follows.

Physicorum libri VIII
De Coelo libri IIII
De Generatione, & corruptione li. II
Meteorologicorum libri IIII
De Anima libri III
De Sensu, & Sensibus
De Memoria, & Reminiscentia
De Somno, & Vigilia
De Insomnis
De Divinatione per Somnium
De Longitudine, & Brevitate vitae
De Iuventute, & Senectute, & Vita, & Morte, & Respiratione

The bookplate on the front endpaper belonged to Gefter Wondrich (1875-1935) and was designed by the Italian artist Ugo Flumiani (1876-1938). Aristotle lived between 384 and 322 BC. The subjects of his writing include the topics of physics, biology, zoology, metaphysics, logic, ethics, aesthetics, poetry, theatre, music, rhetoric, psychology, linguistics, economics, politics, meteorology, geology, and government. His views on physics and astronomy were firmly held for over 1800 years until Galileo, Kepler, and Newton showed Aristotle's beliefs about physics and astronomy were be wrong.
