Astronomiæ Physicæ & Geometricæ Elementa by David Gregory 1726

This was the first astronomy textbook based upon Newton's gravitational principles. The first edition was printed in 1702, while this second edition was posthumously published in 1726. This volume covers topics of astronomy, mathematics and gnomonics, and is illustrated with 48 folding plates. The lengthy preface is a copy of Newton's "Classical Scholia", but Gregory nowhere mentions it as belonging to Newton. As an appendix, the first reprint of Edmund Halley's "Astronomiae Cometicae Synopsis" is included where Halley discusses the periodicity of the comet that now bears his name.
