Atlas Céleste de Flamsteed Edited by Jean Nicolas Fortin 1776
This is the second edition of John Flamsteed's atlas printed in 1776. It was edited by Jean Nicolas Fortin, who was an an artisan and globe maker for the French royal family. This second edition was 1/3 the size of the Flamsteed's original atlas, which was considered too large to be used while observing.
Compare the chart of Cygnus from this atlas with the chart from the original 1729 edition. Like the first edition the second edition has both the celestial equatorial and ecliptic coordinate systems, which tends to make the charts a bit cluttered.
This atlas has been rebound with a leather spine and marbled boards and has some worm damage to the front hinge.
