This is an astrolabe sold by Glen Ellen Scientific of Glen Ellen, California. It was made sometime around 1970. Glen Ellen Scientific was a small company that sold astronomy related educational materials and was operated by Albert Heppe and his wife. The astrolabe was an ancient astronomical instrument that was used for determining time, determine the positions of stars and planets, and to measure one's latitude. This carboard astrolabe has seven disks for latitudes between 25 and 50 degrees.
