Glen Ellen Scientific Celestial Sphere Model - circa 1970
This is a celestial sphere model sold by Glen Ellen Scientific of Glen Ellen, California. It was made sometime around 1970. Glen Ellen Scientific was a small company that sold astronomy related educational materials and was operated by Albert Heppe and his wife. This celestial sphere model is not complete because it is missing the wood dowel, wood hemisphere, and the pointers that would have attached to the dowel. The punch-outs from all of the three plates have been removed and some of them were damaged in the process of removal. From the delicateness of this celestial sphere model it is a wonder that this example ever survived.
