"Planisphère Céleste Mobile" by Camille Flammarion - circa 1900

Here is the larger of Camille Flammarion's planispheres. This is a very large planisphere, measuring 55cm by 55.5cm (21.5 inches by 21.75 inches). The condition is rather poor, with the horizon mask having a lot of tears and missing pieces, but I imagine that is probably typical for a planisphere of this size and age. There were two editions of this planisphere, one from 1887 that was published by E. Berteaux, and the other published around 1900 by G. Thomas. The later edition appears to be more common since all of the examples that I can find on the Internet are published by G. Thomas. This planisphere has had the publisher name cut out from the horizon mask (the oval region above the North point of the mask) making it impossible to determine when it was published but I am going to assume that it is an example of the later edition. This planisphere was acquired from the same dealer that is selling the estate of the late Peter Abrahams, who was a member of the American Astronomical Society's History of Astronomy Division, so I am also assuming that it came from Peter Abrahams's estate.
