"The Midnight Sky: Familiar Notes on the Stars and Planets" by Edwin Dunkin - 1869

This lovely volume was published by The Religious Tract Society in 1869. It describes what an observer of the night sky could see from the city of London from month to month and it provides nice little star maps for each month showing the London skyline, with St. Paul's Cathedral displayed at the center of the skyline, and the Milky Way prominently shown in the sky. I doubt that anyone has seen anything like that over the London skyline since the mandatory blackouts of World War II.
