Mar. 03, 2005 02:59 UT 20 - 1 second exposures stacked. Seeing was poor to average (2 to 3 out of 5). SAC7A CCD camera at the prime focus of the 8" SCT. Individual red, green, and blue images were combined to make the color image after stacking the images from each color channel. The negative image on the right has been enlarged 2 times and does a better job of showing the moons. As you can see Saturn had to be overexposed in this image in order to bring out the moons. The visual magnitudes of the moons are as folows: Titan: 8.28, Dione: 10.4, Enceladus: 11.7, Tethys: 10.2, and Rhea: 9.7. |
